Spring Clean your Makeup Bag!

It's that time again, air out the house, deep clean the garage, wash the windows,

Cosmetics can withstand everyday use, but they just aren't sterile! Most cosmetics will become contaminated simply by dipping into them with unwashed hands or by (GASP!!) sharing....

There is an industry standard for the life span of most cosmetics (See convenient compilation list below!) and a manufacturer's "expiration date", always use common sense when using cosmetics. They come in contact with:
  • Your Precious eyes,
  • Your Luscious mouth
  • Your Fabulous Skin

Nothing is worth compromising your sight, health, or beauty.

If the: Smell is off ,it's "Gloppy", "Clumpy" or the cosmetic is separating the cosmetic is telling you- it's giving you signs,

"It's time to RE-STOCK!"

As you empty your Cosmetic Bag, INSPECT your "Bag"
  • How long has it been since you washed it? Your makeup bag can be a breeding ground for hideaway bacteria.
  • Cloth bags~ Toss into the washing machine on the longest cycle in the hottest standing the material can handle.
  • Plastic-lined Bags~ Can be cleaned by wiping them down with a clean wet cloth & dab of soap. Give them a swipe with a bit of Isopropyl alcohol (20%) to disinfect them as well.

Next, let's look at your Makeup Brushes~ Good Quality Brushes will never expire when maintained and washed regularly. ONCE A WEEK to be precise

  • Use a mild soap like baby shampoo/soap, rinse well, and lay flat on towel to dry
  • This is a good time to reshape some bristles that may have gotten misshapen through daily use.

  • Fill a small spray bottle with Isopropyl alcohol (20%) and Designate that bottle for the sole purpose of disinfecting your brushes after each wash and makeup application.
  • This step will help prevent bacteria from calling your brush bristles home!
